Tuition: $35 per quarter
(Academy student); $70 per quarter (Non-Academy Student)
Primer Class (4-6 years old;
beginner; Pre-note reading to beginning note reading)
Tuesdays at
4pm-4:50pm; Instructor: Ellen Avery
Equivalent to
Primer Book of FJH Piano Adventures, and any of beginner lesson books.
FOCUS: beginning rhythm and basic musical concepts, musical
alphabet, intro to solfege, and vocalization..
Tuesdays at
5pm-5:50pm; Instructor: Ellen Avery
Equivalent to
Primer Reading Level, or Lesson Book 1 of FJH Piano Adventures.
FOCUS: Basic note reading, symbols/terms, and basic rhythms.
1B Class (5-8 years old;
fluent in basic note reading, time signatures & music symbols)
Tuesdays at
6pm-6:50pm; Instructor: Ellen Avery
Equivalent to
Lesson Book 2A, or 2B of FJH Piano Adventures.
FOCUS: Fluidity in note-reading and added symbols/rhythms, intervallic
reading, and ear-training.
1C Class (5-8 years old;
playing in different positions & key signatures)
Mondays at
6pm-6:50pm; Instructor: Ashley Mekeel
Equivalent to
Lesson Book 3A or 3B of FJH Piano Adventures.
FOCUS: Key systems, introduction to circle of 5ths, interval development,
ear training, and transposition.
2A Class (8-13 years old;
beginner)
Tuesdays at
7pm-7:50pm;
Instructor: Ellen Avery
Equivalent to Lesson Book 1 or 2A of FJH Piano Adventures.
FOCUS: Basic note reading, symbols/terms, rhythms, time signatures, etc.
2B Class (8-13 years old,
proficient in grand staff note reading)
Thursdays at 7pm-7:50pm;

Equivalent to
Lesson Book 2B-3B of FJH Piano Adventures.
FOCUS: Intervals, key signatures, major/minor scales, introduction of
various musical styles and forms.
Pre-College Theory I
Wednesdays at
5pm-5:50pm; Instructor: Alex Valencia
FOCUS: Ear
Training, vocalization, solfege, sight-singing, and pitch/rhythmic
dictation.
Pre-College Theory II *
Wednesdays at
6pm-6:50pm; Instructor: Alex Valencia
FOCUS: Form &
Analysis, Chord theory, harmony, further expansion of sight-singing and
dictation.
*Prerequisite: Student must have taken or be simultaneously taking
Pre-College Theory I.
Pre-College Theory III**

FOCUS: Review of
materials and concepts contained in the AP Music Theory Exam.
**Prerequisite: Student must have taken and successfully passed
Pre-College Theory I & II.
