Illustration I and Illustration II: Comics and Anime(4 class series)

Learn the fundamentals of drawing comic book and anime characters. Students will learn how to draw a heroic character, the difference between traditional comic book style and anime style, heroic anatomy and facial expressions. At the end of the 4 week class students will have created their own unique hero!

Painting With Watercolors I (4 class series)

Along with tutelage in the use of basic watercolors, techniques such as washes, glazing, detail, lifting etc will be explored. Students will also learn how to do proper paper stretching, use various brushes, paints, color mixing theory, and more.

Painting With Watercolors II (4 class series)

Students will create watercolor masterpieces from a studied subject matter of their choice and continue practicing techniques, color mixing, composition and more.

Acrylic Techniques (4 class series)

This class is dedicated to developing your personal connection to painting with acrylics and to expand your understanding of how they work. We will explore the many different ways paint can be applied. Color mixing and basic design elements will be presented through demonstration and visual aids. Student will learn different techniques as lifting, staining, alcohol resolve, layering, and more.

Mediums, Surfaces, Textures and more (Advanced Acrylics)

This class is for artists that have worked with acrylics but would like to expand their knowledge about different acrylic mediums to create texture, movement and more….We will explore the many different ways mediums can be used, the different effects that can be achieved and an overall exploration of the world of acrylic mediums. Some technique examples: course molding paste, glass bead, crackle paste, and fiber paste.

 Master Artist Series (4 class series)

Students will learn the art history and work of four famous influential Master Artists.  We will study and be inspired  by the formal portrait of
Leonardo da Vinci's Mona Lisa and explore the expressive techniques of Vincent van Gogh's Starry Night. Students  will also use the Pointillism "dot method" like the artist Georges Seurat and Pop Artist, Andy Warhol, will be introduced and students will create a personal soup can painting

The Art of Mexico (4 class series)

Investigate the art and cultural traditions of the Mexican Holiday Cinco de Mayo celebrated on May 5th.  There will be four projects completed that reflect the culture of Mexico.  Students will create Sun & Moon Gods, three-dimensional moving lizards, paper mache pinatas, and paper molas.

color, design and more while traveling the world of art. Classes may be taken all year-- there are different projects for

Come join us for an artistic trip through time.  Students will explore different art techniques; learn essential composition, color, design skills and more while time traveling through major historical/art movements.

Charcoal Drawing (4 class series)

Working with charcoal and charcoal pencils students will develop light to dark volume drawing, chiaroscuro, gesture and line drawing, contour and blind contour drawing, plus the understanding of line, edges and cast shadow. This class is ideal for the beginner, intermediate and apprentice art students looking to improve their skills.

The Art of Pencil and Color Pencil Drawing (6 class series)

Discover the fundamentals of drawing and sketching working with pencil. Techniques and skills covered in class will include contour lines, gesture, shape, shading and more. Students will hone observation skills to see and understand shape, shadow, line, edge and basic composition.  Color theory, blending, layering and burnishing colors will be explored with color pencils. This class is ideal for the beginner or intermediate apprentice student who is looking to improve skills.

Students will learn the history, basic terms and styles of calligraphy and practice the techniques of Chancery, Cursive, Gothic (Old English) and Unical hand lettering styles.

Influential 20th Century Artists (8 class series)

This class takes an in-depth look at some of the most influential artists of the 20th century. Inspired by artists such as Picasso, Dali, Warhol, O’ Keefe, Riley, and Brancusi, students will experience using techniques in the areas of Pop Art, Cubism, Surrealism, Abstraction, and Op Art.
