sampleKirsten has over ten years of extensive experience teaching private voice, group voice, and preschool music classes. She currently is a performing member of the Chicago Symphony Chorus, and is a member of the National Association of Teachers of Singing (NATS) and the member of American Guild of Musical Artists (AGMA) . Kirsten studied with Amy Cofield, Loretta Robinson, Robert Orth, Theresa Brancaccio, Wishart Bell, and Lisa Nemeth. She has professional choral experience with Chicago Symphony Chorus, Chorus Angelorum (Gary, IN), Anshe Emet Synagogue (Chicago, IL), First Christian Church (South Bend, IN), and Hope Presbyterian Church (Wheaton, IL).  Kirsten’s solo experience includes performances with the South Bend Symphony Orchestra, First Christian Church, First United Methodist Church, First, Presbyterian Church, First Baptist Church, and Hope Presbyterian Church.  She has professional choral directing experience with adult and children’s choirs at Sacred Heart of Jesus Church, and chamber music experience with South Bend Chamber Singers, Vesper Chorale, and Schola Cantorum.

Teaching Experience/Philosophy:

  • 10 years of experience teaching private voice, group voice, and preschool classes 

  • Has taught students to sing well in many styles including classical, early music, Broadway, jazz, folk, and rock by following classical principles of correct singing

  • Instills confidence in students with a firm belief that anyone can learn to sing

  • Highly successful in teaching students to match pitch and develop a keen ear

  • Includes ensemble singing as an integral part of the private lesson program

  • Utilizes Kodaly method of movable do solfege and rhythmic syllables along with traditional staff notation for quickly and easily acquired music reading skills
