sampleStarting in the fall of 2009, The Fox River Academy is offering music and art lessons in a partnership with our hometown Oswego Family YMCA. Our new YMCA campus facility has five private studios with a practice room available. YMCA members will receive a special discount rate when enrolling for lessons at our new facility.

YMCA PRIVATE MUSIC INSTRUCTION:

Private Music Instruction For Piano, Guitar, other Instruments
(5 yrs. and up) with the Fox River Academy of Music and Art

These one-on-one lessons are designed for anyone ages 5 and up. If you have never played an instrument, want to perfect your skills, or anything in between, these 30 minute lessons will focus on your individual needs.  A practice room is also available for enrolled students- please see the front desk to sign up for use. Additional materials (books) may be required for classes.  If needed, low cost instrument rentals may be arranged. To make arrangements for rental instruments, please call the Fox River Academy at 630.551.4321.

To be assured of retaining your lesson time,
register for both sessions at the same time. Lesson time
cannot be guaranteed for subsequent sessions. When
private lesson times are filled, a wait list is created and
additional private lesson times may be added to
accommodate those on the wait list.

PRESCHOOL MUSIC and ART CLASSES:

“Mini Musicians” Music Program For Preschool Voice (ages 3-5 yrs.)
Our preschool music program is designed to teach in a fun, engaging way to children the six main concepts of music. Students will learn that Music is Pitch, Rhythm, Movement, Mood, and Music as a Language, both on a spoken and universal level. Exposure to these musical concepts provides a wonderful foundation for children that may develop an interest in studying a musical instrument as they grow. Our class size is minimal (4-6 per class), to allow optimal attention to your child's learning.

Creative Discoveries-Exploring Our World Through Music and Art (ages 3-5 yrs.)
Our monthly preschool sessions provide a creative learning experience for young children to explore music, art, and movement in a fun, active, and energetic environment. Our Creative Discoveries Creative project is an ongoing program with exciting new activities each session for students to enjoy!

Artistic Adventures Class
(ages 5-7, 8-12 yrs.)
Do you enjoy experimenting with various forms of media? Students will explore various creative methods of art techniques (such as perspective, color theory, shading) and become familiar with different art tools.

NOTE: cost of class will include a $15 materials fee.

ADULT and SENIOR ART CLASSES:

Adult/Senior Watercolor Class

For beginners and those wanting to improve technique, this class will explore the basic techniques used in watercolor painting, including mixing, blending, and experimenting to create visual interest in art works. Students will create works of art through the use of watercolors and fundamental drawing skills.

 

NOTE: cost of class will include an additional $20 materials fee.

Adult/Senior Focus on Drawing Class

This is the perfect class for the student who loves to draw but wants more training. Students explore the basic concepts used to create art works in drawing styles. Students will learn specific techniques (such as drawing “shorthand” developing composition/balance) and work with various mediums to create their own masterpieces.

 Adult/Senior Class: Acrylics With A Twist

This class is dedicated to developing your personal connection to painting with acrylics and expanding your understanding of how they work.  We will explore the many different ways paint can be applied. While working in a charged, supportive environment, participants will connect the ways in which memory and thought are communicated in painting. Color mixing and basic design elements will be presented through demonstration and visual aids.
